James Allen was born in Leicester, England on November 28, 1864. He was known in his time as a writer of philosophical and inspirational content – books and poetry.
In 1903, he published As a Man Thinketh. This book is revered as one of the earliest – and best examples – “power of thought” or “self-help” books. The title of the book was based on the Bible verse, “As a man thinketh in his heart, so is he.”
