Why Solutions Matter

end_is_nearWe all can readily see major challenges facing our world. Their effects are felt in every nation on the planet. We can all point to institutional corruption at practically every level. There can be no argument that vital pieces of information are hidden in webs of secrecy and protected, at times with intense legal or even physical force.
Worst of all, we are constantly conditioned with a false crises mixed with real crises, keeping us always in dis-ease and fear – mostly of each other. This is done knowing full-well that a fearful mind loses much of its power to reason.
Still, as the late American folk philosopher Paul Harvey used to say, “In times like these it’s good to remember there have always been times like these.” These are not new challenges, but they are magnified in our global, technological world.
The question we have to ask ourselves, at some point, is can we win only by angrily railing against that system? Or, is our anger a tool consciously used against us to maintain order and control?
I’d argue the latter is true. Social media is a great tool for venting. It’s great tool for raising our collective fists and waving them at the power and corruption, but what has that changed? How has that raised our consciousness? Who has it fed, clothed, or freed?
Clear-headed, wise and inspired solutions are what we need. Those cannot cannot be achieved in a state of fear or anger.
They also cannot be achieved in constant expectation of catastrophe, dystopia, and chaos.
If we are to succeed in transforming our world, not just in burning down the current system, we must draw on our wisdom more than our anger, our love and compassion not our desire to point fingers. We must unite around broad ideas for a better world not allow petty differences to set us one against the other.
Otherwise, we are nothing but chicken little shouting, “The sky is falling! The sky is falling!” And, remain part of the problem, not part of the solution.
