Stuff God Says- Part I

OT-GodToday is the first in an ongoing series of posts that wonders aloud who the God (gods) is that are described in some of the world’s holy texts? I am not writing these articles to criticize anyone’s belief. I’m writing them because, as human beings, I think we’re well past the time when we should question our beliefs and make sure we’re plugged into the real source of the universe.

I am not one who throws religion and spirituality out the window, as many modern humans have. I do not believe we human beings can reduced to mechanistic material explanations. However,  I am one who seeks to be connected to the true source of this universe and not beings who have posed as our Gods for thousands of years and helped lead humanity to the challenges we now face.

Today’s text comes from Deuteronomy 6:13-16.

13“You shall fear only the LORD your God; and you shall worship Him and swear by His name. 14“You shall not follow other gods, any of the gods of the peoples who surround you, 15for the LORD your God in the midst of you is a jealous God; otherwise the anger of the LORD your God will be kindled against you, and He will wipe you off the face of the earth.  16“You shall not put the LORD your God to the test, as you tested Him at Massah.

Now, my test for texts like these, and they come not just from the Torah/Bible but from many spiritual books around the world, is this. Does this sound like the being that manifested the vast, diverse universe around us or does this sound like a being with many of the same wants, needs, ego, and flaws that we have?

The God referenced here demands undying obedience at the risk of him using his advanced capabilities to violently remove us from the face of the earth. Why would a being that can craft the galaxies behave in such a way to relatively insignificant beings on one little planet in some backwater of the universe?

I would argue, as I do in my novel Anunnaki Awakening: Revelation, that we are dealing with one of the Anunnaki (probably Enlil) now demanding his sole place as the God of Abraham’s descendants. This is more worthy and more likely from a being like that than the source and intelligence behind this marvelous universe.

What do you say?

What we won’t question will rule us and can certainly lead us astray.

Keep seeking. Keep questioning.
