One of the most fascinating Sumerian tablets of all is the one known as The Sumerian King’s List. These tablets list the kings who ruled from the time of creation until the flood.
The tablets have been partially lost, but they show eight kings who ruled for a total of 241,200 years. That’s an average of 30,150 years each.
The tablets begin with these words, “After kingship had descended from heaven, Eridu became the seat of kingship. In Eridu, Aululim reigned 28,800 years years as king. Alalgar reigned 36,000 years.”
The fourth century BCE Babylonian historian, Berossus, claimed that 10 kings ruled in the pre-diluvian period for a total of 432,000 years.
In either case, we have two interesting facts established by the eyewitness account of the people who were there.
- The kingship came to Earth from Heaven.
- Exceptionally long-lived kings ruled Sumer for hundreds of thousands of years.
Mainstream historians and archaeologists will tell you with no evidence, but their own doubt, that this must be myth or allegory. I suppose they could be right. Such long lives seem impractical, given humanity’s current state.
Of course, they weren’t there and the Sumerians were. The tablet says the kingship came from heaven. Perhaps these kings were not mere humans, but Anunnaki or Anunnaki hybrids. We know at least one of them, the famous Gilgamesh, was half divine like Hercules.
Maybe it’s time to stop dismissing these stories as impossible and trying to figure out what actually happened in the past. Maybe we should listen to the Sumerians own records and not 21st century pundits who base their careers on doubting the very cultures they study.
